Finkelstein denied tenure

Norman Finkelstein has been denied tenure at DePaul. A report and the text of the letter are available here. This is probably unsurprising given the campaign against Finkelstein (despite what DePaul say, it is difficult to imagine that the highly vocal campaign had no impact).

The issue of Israel-Palestine is arguably the most contentious topic in US higher education and there will be more news, I suspect, in the UK in the light of the recent rumblings on the issue among the UCU.

Don't you suspect that the Guardian report might be a bit suspect from its assertion that DePaul is a top 10 US private school?

The report is across the media: the Guardian just so happened to have the letter. I've no idea on the ranking or status of DePaul. I mean all I was flagging up was the issue: what has the Guardian got to do with that? The basic issue is that Finkelstein either did or did not get tenure and no one is disagreeing on that, are they?

Poor Finkie. He did not receive tenure. There is a God !! And just so you know - Depaul is not a top 10 US university.

Finkelstein is a refuted schismatic minimalist. He should have been a biologist named Dawkins from Oxford, with as much prejudice for truth. This was good news in 2007... Don't read his books. Don't give him the time of day...
